Asking a pretty penny but I don't know if I have seen another bass drum head as beautiful in my life. Just gorgeous.

Wow, that is cool!
Very cool !
Pretty? Yes
Steep? Yes
DOH
That would be a part of a black elite kit missing the traps and the snare which would of been one of four sizes engraved with gold hardware
He said the drum was painted black, did someone paint over a wrap? I don't recall them painting drums back then? And something about that head isn't right. I know they used oil paints for the calf heads, that doesn't look like oil paint. Even the up close image is too smooth looking. Anyone else with me on that?
The black elite was painted high gloss black enamel that's correct drum I had 1928 kit 4x14 snare still have the head

I agree. Looks too smooth, too perfect like a print. Doesn't look like any painted calf head I've ever seen but I could be wrong.
Cool, but, not worth the price...
Cheers
If it is indeed painted I'd want to see the backside of it. That's usually a good tell since oil paints are usually layered. So you would see the under colors. And yea generally oil paints have a textured look. I mean I grew up when Bob Ross was on PBS. I've seen many a happy tree and happy cloud be painted, lol.
