Survey: Elvin's Tama Drums Last viewed: 19 hours ago

Let me know if this has been posted before.

Elvin's drums for sale on ebay for some time now. Just curious what forum members would do with them. Assuming you could afford the price tag and you buy them, would you:

A) Never or rarely play them

B) Play them all the time but never out of the house

C) Play them whenever and wherever you wanted

D) Find a way to work into every conversation that you own Elvin's drums (like Harvard grads do about their school)

My answer is C and D.

Any links to eBay are eaten by the system here on VDF. You need to post the item numbers so we can go and look for ourselves.

I'd take them out and play them, every kit I have goes out and nothing seems any worse for the wear. I don't even case them up, just use blankets in the car and keep the hardware away from the shells. Makes for super quick build and tear downs! Even keep the stands built, just put pies on and I'm done. If I was playing grunge, like in my youth, I'd go back to using cases and hardware bags though... sorry, probably t.m.i. :D

Here's the link:

I'm wondering if that finish was available when I ordered my same era Granstar Custom's!

I was so dead set on piano white that I probably didn't even look at any other swatches!

Elvins finish is sweeeet!

House only, with an occasional special gig. To me, this transcends a working kit.

Knowing that they were Elvin's, if anything ever happened to them by my own fault--damage, wear, etc.--well, that would really suck. Not to mention that their value would be compromised somewhat.

Plenty of other kits to play out. At this point, this one has a historical significance to it and I think that should be respected.
