You might be able to have that welded back together. And remember... crack kills! :D

Too many great drums to list here!

I believe all those type of complicated-shaped parts are cast metal. If so you'll be looking for another one. Try and look to see if inside the split looks like a smooth break or it's porous. If it's brass it can be brazed. Steel can be welded. Cast=replace.

For such a thick piece of metal there is a weak magnetic pull. Even the wrap tugs the magnet harder. Some kind of pot metal I guess. I do have a replacement. If it were steel I don't think there would be a chance of this snapping. The same has happened to me with Speed King pedal parts.

Just replace the part, I'm sure you can find another. I had one and the part is not symmetrical. Looks like the original die was hand made.

Couldn't help but laugh at your title!!

As previously stated, it is a cast part and most likely porous metal. If you can't find a replacement, I would suggest using JB Weld to repair the crack. It will penetrate the porous metal and really hold tight. The tricky part might be how to get it clamped!

I will attempt a JB weld on the old butt. It just has to be put on the never ending drum project list. Not a bad thing!!
