Seems like most tension washers on vintage drums are rusty and in need of replacing. The question is do I just get replacement metal ones, go the nylon route or pay up and get the sleeved washers? Thanks.

New metal washers can rust pretty quickly. Mine started to rust after a year. Your results may vary. I'd restore your originals if possible. I like the nylon washers. They give the T rod a nice smooth feel when you tighten/loosen. But they do stand out a bit.

I would soak in CLR over night and rust will be gone by morning.
