Plus there's hardly any drum work in my area, or just good bands doing good material whatever that might be. And it's usually crap stuff. ..oh well don't worry be happy as the song goes. I suppose it's only music. Anyway dam good luck to you my friend I say.
Terrible Gig Last viewed: 22 hours ago
I want to say though that as long as I'm able I will play drums till I have a white long beard and then die, um, huh! .. Don't know about zz top though! Where is that dam smiley thing that you can put on here! Aren't I pads fun.
In my earlier drumming days I played with a ska/reggae band which had sort of a local/regional success here in Southeast Texas. We disbanded in 2004.. families, careers, etc.. We had a good run at it for a while though.
Fast forward to present day.. I now just play fill in gigs here and there for a few cover bands. I would LOVE to find a jazz trio or big band to play with but not many around my area. The ones that are here, have established musicians.
Sorry for my off topic remarks.. I know well about the "terrible gig" every now and again. Sometimes it's those gigs that feel like a "have to play" instead of a "want to play" that just seem to drag on.. or the music is boring to play.. In those situations, I try to mentally latch on to the things that ARE going right and let go of the negative... works sometimes, others not so much..

That's a good idea. I have a gig tonight with the same bass player, but a different guitarist. I fear it will be another challenging gig.
Here's another angle on the situation, I'm actually sort of the 'other guy' in another little setup that I've been with, they play once a week on the same night, but every other week I play with another lot, so I don't know how this will pan out for me. Unfortunate that you get not a lot and then there's 2 at once happening on same night!
I hope others will take up this thread, I think I've said my fair share. The Band
Well geez guys I just wish I could be out gigging period. Its interesting to here you guys talk about gig experiences. I think in 2 more years I will be starting to gig, so this is all good reading and preparation for when I do start playing out. Keep up the stories, and Mark you will do fine I'm sure.
Thank you!

I watch more shows than play. Funny to see when things go astray. The best recover, others not so much :-).
