Certain parts of the US....when you came out to get your drums...they would be gone! And you would see a van driving away in the distance.....

As a fellow Canadian who's bought and sold drums on eBay for years, I will only offer this advice:
Never, EVER guarantee a shipping price unless you know for sure. Estimate a shipping charge and estimate high, and tell potential buyers that you will charge them EXACTLY what you pay, but you can't guarantee a price until you have their zip code and the box(es) is/are weighed and measured.
I have been burned a few times when things have gone for lower than expected, and shipping rates were higher than expected. It varies a lot from state to state.
For example, to ship an entire kit to the USA, I always estimate at least $200... sometimes I've shipped as low as $120, and other times it's gone above $200, depending on the dimensions and weight. Avoid anything with large bass drums especially. Shipping a 26" kick will just about kill you in cubed weight charges.
Small stuff is great though - single toms, snares, cymbals... you can usually get a good dollar for - in my case, better than I would get from a local sale.

More activity - kookie. @ shortyedwards - Thanks. actually my dream was to be a rockstar, but at this juncture, I'm just trying to avoid working for the man. As was suggested by someone earlier; I don't expect to retire on this, but finding something enjoyable to do, while having to work into my retirement years, might be more realistic. Pretty sure I've got both 'Star' decals in stock - PM me here, let me know which one you'd like, and we'll work out all the logistics.
@ thornbeck - Spot on! Thanks for the link, I'll start there.
@RIMS n SKINS - Still can't fathom how your technique could work, but kudos to you. My house is at the end of a street that gets very little more than local resident traffic, and there doesn't seem to be too many drummers in my neighbourhood, (but then, how would I really know that?). All that being said however, I was quite surprised last Sunday, when we put an oak TV cabinet out at the end of the driveway with a 'free' sign taped to it, to see it gone within the first hour.
@ blairndrums - Don't I know it. I'm thinking that the internet is probably a major contributor to that. It's a blessing, and a curse.
@ jccabinets - Thanks. You're one of those dudes who makes me ask; where does he find the time for all this? Speaking of your work, and your presence here on VDF - I'm a fan.
@ DrumOgre - Thanks, that's been one of my biggest deterrents about trying to sell on ebay. I hate math, and the fear of miscalculating, (along with the drudgery of just calculating) does not appeal to me. Definitely want to , at least start out small, package sizidly speaking that is... Dang, spell check ain't helping me on that one.
