The Century Project - Daniel Glass Last viewed: 5 hours ago

I was fortunate to be present at the taping of the narrative portion of a new DVD called the Century Project. The premise is that it follows the evolution of American music, seen through the lens of the drum set.

There is going to be a section on vintage drums as well as performance sequences using a number of really nice vintage sets, played in the styles that were popular when the drums were new. I didn't have a chance to see those but what I did see will surely appeal to vintage drum nuts, drum geeks in general, and anyone with more than a passing interst n the evolution of American music.

I'm not posting this as an advertisement, I don't have a dog in the race, but it will be worth keeping your eyes open for this. Also, Daniel occasionally does clinics along the line of the Century Project so if he is coming to your town you may want to go. If you are in the Southern California area, he wil be doing a clinic at Alvas Showroom in San Pedro on March 25.

I have seen some bashing of DW on this forum so it's worth mentioning that the taping was at the Drum Channel studio, which is run by Don Lombardi of Drum Workshop fame. I had a chance to meet Don and see him in action. What I saw was a man who is very passionate about drums and drumming. I could see where a person in the business for 40 or so years could be either burnt out or jaded, not so in his case. His enthusiasm, even at the end of a very long day is probably one of the ingrediants in his success.
