The large drum collection syndrome Last viewed: 1 hour ago

When I got my second kit, my guitarist asked why. I asked him how many guitars he had, and that was the end of that. When I got my third kit (clear Vistalite), he was on board to the extent that he asked me to use it at all gigs.

problem for me is I also play bass, and I have a few guitars for recording demos to try to get song ideas accross.

so 8 basses, 4 guitars, a small pa and 7 drum kits...

when the arguements start, I don't say ANYTHING.:)

Agreed. I'm a classical percussionist by degree. I just sold my extra set of timpani last year because I got a nicer set. Oh, and I sold my extra extra vibes, too, so I'm down to two. I'm keeping my two xylos, though, and both glockenspiels have their plus sides. Not to mention the 3 concert bass drums, 8 tambourines, "I don't know how many anymore" woodblocks, 3 triangles (I know, I know, I'm slacking in the triangle department...), etc...

But, yes, when you're "into" what you do, the gear acquisition begins and never stops if you're a classical percussionist. And a drummer. And a guitarist. And a bassist. And run a studio. And do live sound. Ugh! Thank goodness I keep all of this stuff out of the house or my wife would throw a fit!

A long time ago I had these two vintage drum kits in closets. 60's sonor teardrops and 68 sky blue pearl luddys. She said, "why don't you set one of them drum kits up in the livin' room. I drug both of them out and started researching info about them and ran accross this forum. I got the drum bug and now have 20 kits, 60 snares, various other drums, 20 guitars, etc.....I have one room dedicated to just my drum collection. A few weeks ago she said " Why dont you maake a coffee table out of a drum for the livin' room?"

I sold all my coffee tables and now have a concert bass drum for the coffee table and 22 for one and a 16 for the other. Im looking for 4 guitar necks for legs to make another table. I loooove my wife!!! lol

I can only imagine the gear you must have! I'm down to 5 kits now. I'm happy (for now). LOL...
