I know Jaye if I knew that place I'd walk in there and spend some dough.

Fellows... it's all still up there.

There are a couple young fellows that work there who are musicians (mostly guitar players) who have taken kind of interest in the drum stuff and are trying to clean up the drum room and move some down from the attic but it is going very slowly.

The big problem is the prices the owner puts on stuff... If it's vintage, he really wants top dollar... normally that is the highest Ebay asking price, plus the shipping... so if somebody on ebay has a vintage Slingerland kit just listed for $2,700 plus $300 shipping.. he is going to ask the same price in the pawn shop, regardless of condition or completeness.

Lucky... the little "Vintage Drum Guru" under my name is automatically generated by the board after 500 posts. 99% of my posts have been questions.. not answers.

I'm NOT a "Vintage Drum Guru".... in fact when that appeared I ask David to remove it because it certainly didn't apply to me and I felt like it might be insulting to people like DrCJW, Mike Curotto, Rich K, O-lugs, Ploughman, Tommyp, Roscoe, Musicbybj, David, Tubelugs, Big Daddy, Backbeatkeeper ... and several others who really are VINTAGE DRUM GURUs, and who have been so very helpful to me in learning about these drums and the companies that made them. I am a total novice player and collector who simply asks too many questions.Lame

Not a Guru... just interested..

Yes, well...there is the rub, then.

If the proprietor really insists on putting those sorta pricetags on things, his attic is eventually gonna come crashing thru the ceiling below.

One would think that, if they are familiar with eFlay....they would be wiser to realize that listing at the maximum sale price one particular auction got doesn't exactly make much sense. You auction...and you get what you get...which is often decent market-value; and surely, surely, surely....a price which would make a nice profit for a pawn shop.

Oh, well.....

I think I noted some where in this thread... they can be touchy about the attic. Friday afternoon or Saturday seemed to work best. They won't let you go up there alone so if they are busy you will be waiting for a while.

Obviously cash in hand with the clear intent to purchase... or at least make an honest offer is a much better motivator to open the door than just being curious.

If you get those WMP keystone Luddy's before me... well, I'll be ****ed. :D

Jim, I was just messing with you man, please except my humble apology! I think that is why most of us are here, asking questions about stuff we have or want. As for me, I am going to spend less time here and more in my practice space.I am doing too much drooling.
