I agree with the OP ... with the caveat ... we are here to answer questions and be a respository ... reposatory ... riposatory ... DANG!!!
... we are here to answer questions and be a savings vault for Drum History. I don't believe I've ever come to grips with just how the current market value for a Supra exactly aligns with Vintage Drum History ... but I'm sure someone with bigger pants than myself have all that figured out.
im a firm believer in the vdf that's why i contribute yearly! as it a place to make friends and talk vintage drums, Right? that's what this is about and doing some networking for parts and kits but the one hit wonders make it bad for us sharks here (and we are great whites always on the hunt) so now on we low ball them and we will most likely be right by the time we buy take apart restore and buy parts so lets band together and get theses cl people to drop there price or raise them and they wont sell just choking, LOL....
Good thing about a one hitter is.....

Buying/Selling will always include the regular topics that seem to travel on about a 30 day cycle:

1) pass right over the annoying threads (probably like most will do with this very response.....LOL)
2) get rid of the for sale section altogether
There will never be a for-sale section that doesn't come with all of the above mentioned, recurring, threads.

I think I understand where you are all coming from in the sense that some people might join to say "hey found this in a garage sale for 20 bucks I saw a tv show and I am thinking of retiring on it"
I collect rare vintage guitars amongst other things and the guitar sites also have a drama sometimes with people advertising and leaving. I joined here recently to find out about a drum I have extreme provenance for and realised that it wasn't a run of the mill instrument.
The whole sorry story is in the non usa vintage thread and has given me great joy in the response from people both here and especially paul at troutsounds who has gone out of his way to help me nail it down.
As a result I have been consumed reading all of the posts with you guys/gals and all things drums. My wife is terrified "you already collect Guitars, Motorcycles, Vinyl etc rant rant"
I wont say I have now become a mad Drum Collector but what I will say I have a whole new take on it, especially cool vintage drums. I am at auctions constantly and see drums all the time. Now I will refer here and know what I am looking at. I will probably buy them now too if I can get away with it. All vintage instruments are things of beauty and personality (tone)
I have talked to Paul and I think he is the man to restore it properly. So I am one who came here , am fascinated and will stay. I guess don't be too quick to judge intentions.
Just one other thing I would say, I have read many posts here and have not once seen any nastiness between people. It is very refreshing as I have seen it many times on guitar sites where people try to out-do one another with "guruness"
So It is a big plus that you guys seem to be able to accept each other's knowledge peacefully.

I think by and large intentions are fairly obvious. Those who come with the sole intent of operating a business and getting access to a demographic they want for free really stick out. Those who join hoping to find out what they have got, whether they want to, choose to, or are trying to sell it or not..really weren't the subject of my rant any way.
The guy that joins three forums on the same day with a lot to sell, is not really interested in US except for our money. I will do my best not to help that person in any way. No information, no suggestions, nothing.
ah well, it was just a rant.
Now perhaps I misunderstand your post. But down there under "reason for editing" you have....... can You play...........
So why not esplain that, and maybe civility will win out.
