The secret is to use the right bit, an angle grinder prevents splintering on thin panels or top grain edges, like a drum !i They are made for steel or wood or stone !i

So you attach this to a side angle grinder then "free hand" the edge??

When I have wood splintering problems I climb cut with the power feeder, but that dont work with drums. I guess you could try scoring the veneer with a utility knife as you would cutting off a door.

Thank you!

I haven`t tried it but I would think unlike put`n the stock to the bit, put`n the bit to the stock spinning into the edge, splintering can`t happen !i

Maybe I`ll go get the bit and try it on a backing panel !i

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

The main problem I had with drums made of luan was they seem to distort at higher volumes and produce an unpleasant sound, even with the newer ones.
