There is a wood powertone on ebay that the seller says"may" have been recovered. Ifit is recovered, is it really worth decent money? If so, what kind of value?

I don't know. You didn't post a link. I am a proponent of saving your money and buying a correct drum (unless you can get one heck of a deal on it to use as a player). Since it has been recovered, it holds little collecting value, but may be a great player.
