Yes, thats a transition badge Super, but it seems to have been born a SS. Then again, it is possible someone added a SS strainer after the fact ,but I kind of doubt that...Now the question is, did Ludwig produce a SS in 1959?

Never heard of a musical instrument forum blocking ebay links. Is this an "on purpose" modification? BTW I've only used ebay a few times for BIN items, just curious.

I believe that direct links to eBay are discouraged because they go bad over time (3 months generally) and instead of doing this you are encouraged to upload the photos to this site to preserve them, and copy the auction text into you post if you want it preserved.
Or...eBay may have changed something at their end which is causing them to be rejected at this end by the little bit of code which used to "rewrite" the link for inclusion here.
It was not always this way. And there are tricks to get around it if you know bbcode. Here is the link but it won't operate as a link. You could copy/paste it into your browser and follow it that way.

Now, as to the question of whether Ludwig had Super Sensitive models with the Transition badge.
The 1957 Ludwig Catalog says nothing of metal snare drums (yet we know they were offered).
The 1962 catalog has the Super Sensitive model along with the Super Ludwig 400.
Rob Cook's The Ludwig Book says the Super Sensitive was introduced in 1961 (p249).
The Transition Badge is not used exclusively in 1959, although people often simplify it to that phrase.
So I'd say it is legit for a brass Super Sensitive Transition Bade to exist, Ludwig being Ludwig.
