Hi,
I'm going to be in San Clemente, CA flowers2 at the end of July and was curious if there were any cool things to check out during my visit. I already sent a reservation request for a DW factory tour.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance!

Bellflower Music in Bellflower CA
Pro Drum Shop in Hollywood
Amoeba Music in Hollywood
Catch a Jon Brion show at Largo!
Don't forget about the Ringo "Peace & Love" exhibit at the Grammy museum in Los Angeles. Just do a Google search and you'll find it. Really, what could be more cool than seeing the kit that started Ludwig into 3 shifts to produce so many kits that got many of us interested in drums?!!
Now, not to be a buzz kill by any measure, BUT... you'll be in San Clemente (beautiful, by the way) and you'll have to drive north on the Interstate 5 into Los Angeles in the summertime. Welcome to southern California. Have fun driving and bring plenty of patience!! LoLoLoLo

x2!!!
A don't miss!!!

Ummm....the beach?
You can also go to the Fender Museum (kind of small, but neat stuff) and I believe that the Fender factory in the same town (Corona) allows tours. I've never been to Pro Drum, so I can't speak from experience, but I've heard that's a must. Also GC in Hollywood has some cool vintage eye candy.
Pro Drum in Hollywood is definitely worth a look. I visited them for the first time a few weeks ago for a Sabian event.
With or without the Ringo display, the Grammy Museum is worthwhile.
The Fender factory tour is very interesting, but call ahead. Go with a guitarist and you might get an augmented experience in their museum section, which is unguided. But you might have a hard time dragging him out of the room where 30 or so guitars and a similar number of amps are set up for shredding.
Also: NAMM's Museum of Making Music in Carlsbad, a bit north of San Diego.
I second NAMM's Museum of Making Music in Carlsbad and Lou's Records in Encinitas - about 15 minutes south of Carlsbad.
Forgot about Lou's, d'oh!
But there are many quality record stores in the L.A. area that don't require such a drive: Amoeba and Fingerprints in Long Beach come to mind. Each of these hosts occasional performances: Check their websites.
In fact, here are some places to learn more about independent record stores in SoCal and nationwide:
Oh wow, such great suggestions!
I got a reservation for the DW factory tour and thinking about the Ringo exhibit as well. Luckily my sister is into carting me around for the week and shares musical interests!
Thanks and keep 'em coming!
