Thinking about buying this '61 Ludwig Last viewed: 2 hours ago

I don't see any evidence of a rail mount having been there. Newer base plate, but they stripped out easily, and most were replaced or retapped by now. Same holes, no harm, no foul. I may have an older one. I'll look....

At least they removed the hardware instead of painting over everything. That happened a lot. Looks much neater this way. If you're not completely stripping them down, I'd wait until that time comes before repainting them. We know, but we're all detail freaks. Nobody outside the vintage drum world would ever think anything of it. Particularly with that exterior finish. Go play those things! Wish my Clubby resto was going to be so easy.........

Congrats on the kit! That won't be that bad of a resto job. They'll look really nice when you're done. Enjoy!

I'm going to be a bit putting them together. Parts are ordered. Trying to have them ready for a NY Eve gig. Here's the PO's goofy CL ad pic.....

Sweet man. This is gonna be awesome. That picture is hilarious

It'll be easy enough to paint the interiors if you're gonna strip them down, There's a Benjamin Moore color that's correct. If not, just leave it and play on! I've been on a Coated Emp over Coated Ambo kick lately.YMMV. Thinking of trying Vintage Ambo's on the new Clubbies. The only real evidence of the tom mount being an add-on would be holes left from a previous mount.. Meguiar's Plastx will do wonders with the wrap. I used it on an auto buffer on these. Here's before & after pics of my last SBP set....... Congrats!!

Yeah I'm going to buy heads tomorrow. What's the best combo for the toms. They Sound pretty bad right now with the old heads on em!

Also for the kick. I like a deep punchy sound.

Ill have to have you teach me how to make these shine up like that Tom on the right (in your pic)

What color were the interiors originally? I thought they were clear with just a lacquer.

Also are these African mahogany with poplar centers?

The owner wasn't sure if they were '61's that's just what he assumed because they are pre serial. So kinda weird that ill never know the year.
