What drives me crazy is the "story" behind the set. Lies Lies Lies.

Sure its a cool retro Frankenstein get up but good grief charlie brown... Pants on fire

What 'story'?

He said they were played in a dixieland group. Could've been. Doesn't necessarily mean they were played in 20s or anything.

The toms belonged to Oldschool! The guy made up the BS story about a dixieland band just to sell them. I don't blame oldschool for being pi$$ed at the deception. The toms are re-wraps with bass drum lugs which isn't mentioned in the ad.

It's a good buy at $300. He doesn't need to 'lie' to get them sold.

Too many great drums to list here!

My question is why would be a non-traditional Dixieland setup?

Just the facts, dear seller. This is reason why I despise reality singing competition shows too. Everyone has to have some kind of ridiculous sob story to get on the show. Like the family's pet poodle has bone cancer and ran away from home, or grandma Agnes has some rare type of disease.... etc etc.

Regardless of what the item is, lying about it doesn't sit well with me.

I'm not mad that he picked up the shells for $5-$10 bucks and put them back together in an interesting way. That's actually really cool.

My issues is what kind of expectation are you setting when you (obviously) lie about a drum kit. Would anyone feel good if they sold this kit to a kid or adult who though he/she was getting a genuine dixieland Slingerland outfit?

All who have responded to my thread "know" what you would be purchasing because your well versed in this subject.

And if I was new to Vintage Drums and thought this would be the set to get started on... and later found out it was fake... I would be disappointed :(

bad apples spoil the bunch...
