That's a cool cartoon for sure.

I didn't own my own drum set until I was 17.

My folks were old hippies and actually liked me playing the drums in the house.

I wish I would have started earlier. band2

that cartoon is it!! after I went to bed Christmas eve 1966,my Dad (who had been to a few "shop parties""bought the drums in the house .He tried to set them up and was hitting the pedal and the bass drum was going BOOM BOOM BOOM. The noise woke me up to the best present ever.My mighty 3pc Sears drums/with 12" cymbal I was in heaven,still am!!! Thanks for the great cartoon..Vati

Nice thread - brings back memories. Fun reading about how it all started.

Mine was Christams 65........a snare drum from my Grandmother. But before that I had a set of cardboard boxed .......bought my sticks in 1961......
