This means nothing. I am just curious Last viewed: 53 minutes ago

I saw the old ad posted for ROC drums and it reminded me of a short lived drum company that posted ads in Modern Drummer in the late 70's early 80's. The drum kit pictured was huge and the custom hardware was almost a work of art. Kind of like something Terry Bozzio would start doing a few years later. The shells were white and the kick drums had resonant heads that had about 2/3 of the head cut out so it was basically a single headed kick. One defining feature I vaguely recall was that the kick drum spurs were not spurs at all. Instead they were built like a roller beam that was parallel to the shell. seems like they actually had a rubber or vinyl wheel or end stop at either end.

Someone, possibly Rick VanHorn, did a review on them and gave them glowing remarks. I recall them being very expensive. Like I said, it doesn't really matter, but does anyone have any ideas?

Alright then, I answered my own question. On a lark I began to think these were Italian made drums so i did a quick image search of Meazzi drums and came up with HiPercussion. You guys probably already knew that. Regardless, this is the photo I was looking for:

And this....

Pretty innovative. According to the review I just read, all the hardware actually worked well. The fittings look a lot like Kee-Klamps to me (also known as "speed rail" in some industries)

You would get a few head turns with those kits.

And they would cool in a collection, though I think you would have to display them completely set up. Just stacking the drums would lose the point.
