$1k is a bit optimistic. I realise at that price you're getting the rack for free if thEy were brands new. But they're not brand new.
I see a lot of overpriced sets on cl.why use cl when you can find sets in yard sales?
I've run into this type of thing a LOT. Then when I tried to offer a fair price the seller generally would get offended and think I was "low-balling" him (which to him, that's what I was doing I guess). What it boils down to is they just don't know what real market value is.
I've gotten to the point that unless it's something I'm REALLY interested in I don't even make contact. I used to put out CL adds under "wanting to buy" for drums, but haven't for a long time for the same reasons.
