Thoughts on new Ebay? Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Well, I think it may be time I quit selling on EB.........they just announced major changes which I found out the hard way. I went to list an item yesterday, noticed that the listing format was different, (in a bad way) then I found out when I went to post the ship fees I get a bold message back in my face saying "your ship fees are too high for the item posted" now EB is taking control of the sellers ship fees, which is plain nutz. I tried everything to find a way to over ride it. I think they want sellers now to increase selling price so they get more profit, since they dont make a dime on ship fees. Let me know if anyone sees something I'm missing.

I forgot to add the stock went up 6% after the annoucement, so it must mean money for them

Ebay does make a percentage on shipping now. Its a shame how they treat the sellers.

ebay!?!?!?!?! Let me state I HATE THIS DAMN COMPANY!!!!!! I'm a full time seller have triple digit transaction numbers I have 100% feedback. 5's all the way across my DSR. "Dealer seller rating"

But yet another way to screw sellers on ebay they have a policy now where if you have not sold at least 25 items in a 6 month period , Paypal now holds all your sales money until the buyer leaves favorable feedback. paypal holds your money for up to 30 days with No Interest paid to you the seller at all. Ebay and paypal now take a portion of your shipping charge, even when you send a gift payment thru paypal now they get a fee. I am now in a class action lawsuit against ebay with a few million more of me. Hope this hits them in the pocket book. Oh and for the record, I really do Hate ebay!!!!!!!!! I could go on for hours what I've gone through with this worthless company this last month.:mad:LameLame

I haven't listed anything on eBay for a while now. Oh, one or two small items, but nothing like I used to.

I was aware they were making some changes, as I have received several messages from them (both through eBay messaging AND to my regular email account) in the past few weeks. They are making some positive changes for the seller as well, at least so they say. One of them being on July 1 (or maybe June 1?) you will be able to post up to 12 pics FREE and I think the "gallery" thing with the zoom and all becomes free as well...

I'll start by saying that I've never been a big seller on Ebay. Despite my good

intentions, I tend to buy far more drum 'stuff' than I sell.

However, I've pretty much stopped selling anything on Ebay because of

the escalating hassles. The 'holding the seller's money for up to 30 days'

was the final straw.

All of us have the option of selling here or on other forums and getting paid

via USPS Money Order, cutting Ebay/PayPal completely out of the transaction.

Just my $.02

You can ask the seller to send you a M.O. to avoid the P/P fees on large amounts, but chances are, they wouldn't want to do that...

Hi Bro, Did you try useing the shipping calculator? Click on shipping cost varies by buyers location. Then you can add the weight & dimension of the package. That will over ride there block. Plus you can also add a handling fee to help cover the cost.

no doubt about it, the ebay process is very discouraging..HOWEVER...selling through ebay most definately allows much greater visibility. I absolutely do not want to give over 20% of my potential profit to others but I don't see much choice. This site does not have nearly the amount of potential viewing customers and CL seems to also be not so productive. I have plenty of kits to sell but am hesitant to sell via ebay because of that hand in my pocket,

but I don't see much alternative. I guess I add 20% to any buy-it-now price and if it sells, great, if not, repost for free?

Here's an example of what I'm talking about. I'm about to post a picture of the following collection of vintage Ludwig drums and then I will figure out the best avenue to sell them: Black Oyster Pearl club date, downbeat and classic; Blue Sparkle club date, downbeat and classic; Silver Sparkle club date, downbeat and classic and Champagne Sparkle club date, downbeat and classic. And I have several of some of these kits and a bunch more.

I was counting on ebay to help move much of these but still drag my feet because I'd rather keep them all than give them app. 20% and please don't forget the tax man that also steals profits regularly. Not really sure how to deal with this issue!!!
