Hello everyone,
I'm new to the board and was hoping for some insight from knowledgeable members concerning a kit I have in my possession. It's a Rogers Holiday kit in what I believe is "Mardi Gras" finish. My research leads me to believe they are late 50's-early 60's era. The inside of each drum is a flat gray color. Each drum has reinforcement rings and paper tags with serial numbers and the Cleveland identification. Sizes are as follows:
5x14 snare SN#24041
8x12 rack tom SN#24209
14x20 bass SN#22387
With this kit there is no floor tom. The snare is missing a lug, and there is some very minor surface rust on some of the chrome on the lugs and the stand for the rack tom. This rust appears very easily treated and removed however, and I was able to scratch some off using just my fingernail. As easy as it would be I didn't want to treat any of the rust because I'm looking to sell this kit and feel the buyer has the right to treat it as they see fit once they receive it. Kind of like when you have a rare coin you aren't supposed to shine it up prior to selling it to a collector. I am working on attaching some photos soon (it's not letting me do so at the moment for some reason but I'm still trying!) and would greatly appreciate some honest, knowledgeable feedback prior to putting them up for sale. If anyone here is interested in them I would most certainly be willing to work a deal as these drums deserve to go to a good home and someone who appreciates what they are. Thank you!
