I have several sets and dozens of snares, so for me, variety is the spice of life.

IMO, switching up kits keeps things fresh. A different vibe gets going, to me. Of course, I'm not taking my 24" kicks to a low volume lounge gig, or my 20" guys to a big, unmiked club, so things remain within reason. I find using different stuff to be inspiring. For the same reason, I like sitting in on another drummer's setup: they'll often put a drum or cymbal in a place that would not occur to me.

Cymbals are almost always a mix of Sabian and Zildjian with an occasional Paiste.
