These are new not vintage but what are your thoughts on them?? I like the look and from what i have seen they sound awfully good.
Thoughts on these cymbals??? Last viewed: 26 minutes ago
they'll catch your wallet also, not cheap at all, and you would need to listen to the cymbals your going to buy, no two are alike. the distributer is in Atlanta Ga, so us good ole southern boys get first pic of them when the shippment arrives.
Would you recommend the brand? It is a steep price, is it worth it you think? I am heading to the city sometime this week I will stop at the drum shop's and music stores and see if they have any.
People whose ears I trust LOVE Bosphorus. But I am a Paiste guy through and through. Use your ears!!!

Absolutely great great cymbals, these are dark sounding cymbals, along the Original K Zildjian sound since this is from some of the original cymbal smiths of Zildjian.
Awesome! Sounds like they have a good rep from what I seen. I am defiantly going to have a look at them. The price is high but if there what I am looking for then I will have to get myself a early Christmas present once the check comes next month ;)

Bosp's are the only line I've ever considered changing from Paiste Sig's for. I've got a set of their Versa Hats (the only non Paiste cymbals I own) and really love them. They'll be up for sale soon (a friend is using them on a session) if you're interested & decide to go with them. If I was to start over, it would be a tough call between my Sig's & the Bosp's...they are GREAT CYMBALS! Maybe someday I'll be able to afford a small jazz set from them...that's where they shine!
1968, 1974 & 1984 Rogers Dyna•Sonic COB

1920's-40's Slingerland (US Military) Field Snares (6)
19?- Ludwig Field Snare (US Marines)
1960's Premier Gold Glitter Student Snare kit
1960's-? MIJ Snares (way-way too many)

Well gosh seems like I need to go listen. I may be interested although when I spend large amounts of money as that I would prefer new. Like I would order a whole set of the antiques and go from there.
Vintagemore2000 made an important suggestion: try to listen/hear the cymbals before you plunk your money down. They do all sound slightly different. You are better served buying locally, where you can actually play the cymbals, than doing mail-order and hoping you get cymbals whose sound you really like.
I also want to put a word in here for Istanbul cymbals. I own a set of 14" Mehmet jazz hats, an 18" (dark/slightly trashy) Sultan Crash and my ride is a 21" Sultan, again a dark and slightly trashy sounding ride. Both cymbals have great definition and the Istanbuls are more affordable than the Bosphorus. Same Turkish, hand-made, hand hammered cymbals as the Bosphorus line. Also made by ex-Zildjian makers. You might want to look into Istanbuls as well while you're shopping around for new brass.

Wasn't trying to give you a sales pitch, there are a couple guys that have first dibs. Just letting you know these bronze beauties are great cymbals! They're the only traditional bronze alloy mixture that ever really turned my head...but, as stated in another post, they're hand made so no 2 sound truly alike. They are works of art by a true artisan! If you invest in them, find a shop that has a wide variety to choose from. I think there are several shops in Nashville & New Orleans that are well stocked with them.
DAMN!...just talking about buying cymbals is making my Debit Card itchyelectricit...guess I need to go give it to my wife before I do something stupid! LoLoLoLo

Paiste are the only ones you could probably replace blindly by merely ordering them. When I have said such things as "if you like a Zilly, it's best to hold onto it" goes 10X when it comes to TRULY HANDMADE CYMBALS. That goes for Istanbuls and Bosphorus. Those two brands have ZERO consistency!!! They make truly great cymbals, but you buy the one you like right there. They are just like buying a baby bunny, a puppy, or a kitten- you don't just order one!!!! You need to pay with it, see which one out of the litter you like!!!
