Throw Back Thursday....My Camco Drums in 1966 Last viewed: 24 minutes ago

In 1966, our band opened for The Association in concert at Thornridge High School field house in the Chicago suburb of Dolton, Illinois. I was 22 years old, and had already lost most of my hair. My Blue Sparkle Camcos were a couple years old at that time. My 1957 20" A Zildjian ride cymbal took a tumble to the floor from the drum stage after the gig. The cymbal suffered a six inch long crack about three inches up from the edge. The next day, I had a hole drilled at each end of the crack plus a few other holes in which rivets were installed. That sizzle cymbal has remained as part of my rig ever since. I also added another new A Zildjian ride.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

Great shots... before I read your post I was thinking that those tables were looking a little precarious.... And was your HH "doing a runner" as was often the case back then??

Cheers

Never mind the hair, explain those checkered polyester pants mister! :D

It's so great that you have photos from those days. I only had a few but they got lost in the shuffle of a lifetime of moves. Thanks for sharing those. Brings back memories...

And dang, look at all the now vintage instruments!

John

Too many great drums to list here!

Great photos. Takes me back a long way. I would have been 14 and possibly in your audience if I didn't live way out on the East Coast. I could wish I had been older because we got stuck with the era of Neru jackets. Never got to your level though, and I recall Mr. Dieingly Sad very well. Nice Camco's!

I'd kill for the Neru jacket era. So cool. I missed the whole matching suits bands era entirely.

Great pictures. Glad you have those! Like Purdie mine are lost in all of my moves too.

Love those pics. They capture the era perfectly! Thanks for sharing. If those guitars were strapped on any higher they might have choked those two guitarists (lol). Great looking "slacks", too!

Amazing amazing! So you still have the Camcos? Great. And the Association? What a huge gig for you. Their timeless hits include

Windy

Never My Love

Cherish

Along Comes Mary

Have any music clips to share? What songs did The Kritters play? Thanks!

ps I really see no need for that homemade riser either, but it's quite funny. And dangerous! :)
