I agree with you completely. Sure, it's fine to collect and restore. I do the same thing...BUT, I also play my big ol' set of Stars on a regular basis. That's what they are for, isn't it?! Brian
That's what I thought and I get the restoring aspect of vintage drums, but not so much the collecting of them. That's just me, I never collected anything. All I need is one great sounding kit to fulfill my inner rock star.band3

Bop iT / Til U Drop iT.I gig regularly in a couple different bands, doing a wide variety of genres. I use several different sized setups with my original Blaemires, which I choose from three different sized bass drums, and an assortment of toms. I also own a modern Jenkins-Martin kit with sizes that can also cover an assortment of gigs. These are all the drums I need, so I don't really spend much time buying and selling. My tool box is full. ;-)
Btw, I've been playing a lot of smaller stage gigs, but got to stretch out a bit this past weekend. :-)

A few gigs ago I was the first to arrive and set up. The fill in bass player arrives just after I finished and the first thing he says to me is,"I don't have enough room to set up!" Now I was using a four piece Ludwig kit with two cymbals and a pair of hats, not much of a footprint. He had a bass amp and one bass guitar, I looked at him and just shook my head, but being the nice guy that I am, I pulled everything over a foot or two. I need to start a one man band.D' Drummer

Quite exact figure there. Hmm I feel a thread coming on.
The 4th was the last time I played. And I had to stop after 4 hours nonstop I just got caught in the moment with the nite out doors Eddie C. And fireworks awesome but being tired was so overwhelming I had to stop thankfull of other drummers there
