What drum companies used the tom mount like the one attached (usa and non usa)? And what is the technical term for this kind of mounting system?

That's a typical mount found on Japanese import drums from the 60's. I'm not sure what the proper name is. I've heard them called "strap" mounts. The common American version (made by W & A) is often called a "diamond plate" due to it's diamond shape but that wouldn't technically apply here.

The strap engages the spade on a consolette rail mounting system.

thanks for the info! I think my kit is a late 60's pearl kit but can't find any pics with this mount....there are no badges on this kit either. Not sure what it is.

Those plates came in many different patterns; square, diamond, round at top/flat at bottom! Here's a link to a 1966 Star catalog, showing a similar plate. http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/japanese_drums/images/drum_parts/1966-2-star-parts.jpg

thanks for that link! The only difference I keep seeing is that these plates are rounded on the top. The one on my tom is more of a rectangle (flat on top).
