Thanks all for the advice.

I don't think that I'm ready to mount the tom on a stand just yet. I don't mind seeing the tom move a little. Got me wondering though, how do you keep the tom from tumbling off a tilted stand if it is not gripped tight enough to prevent choke?

Anyway, I am enjoying playing just the one. The new layout and simplicity suits my style of play. Plus I've uncovered great sound coming from the 14" since I changed all heads.

I can understand the physics of tightening the basket to much on a stand with a tom. I set mine so my tom lies in it without tightening it but not to loose. I can also pick it up easily for tuneing the reso side. The angle I use is safe from it ever falling out.
