Took the Camco Oaklawn plunge! Now what? Last viewed: 6 hours ago

Ok guys, based on lots of listening and opinions(a few from here...thank you so much!), I have purchased a gold sparkle set that consists of 8x12, 9x13, and 16x16 toms(center Aristocrats on that one) and 14x22 AND 14x20 bass drums. I can barely keep my hands still...or the collection agencies from calling.

It's enroute, and I should have it by the end of next week. It's a player's kit, with some tom rash on the 12" tom and 2 non-Camco T-rods.

I plan on re-heading the entire kit. What do you all use on yours?

Also, I'd love to disassemble and clean the drums properly, but I'm concerned about parts stripping. Is there anything I need to look out for?

Thanks so much,

Dan

Very cool. I was on the phone to Steve Maxwell just the other day about that kit as he was trying to find a matching 14x14 floor tom and thought I might have one. I use coated Remo Vintage A's on top, regular coated Ambassadors on the bottom. On the bass drums I use an Aquarian Super Kick I w/ an Aquarian Force II smooth white on the front w/ no hole.

There is nothing there that should strip out by disassembly and reassembly. I've done it many times on Camco drums with no worries.

Keep a lookout for a 16x16 or 14x14 Camco in gold sparkle w/ Aristocrat lugs (round). Then you can sell the 16x16 floor tom w/ Tuxedo lugs.

Again nice score at a very decent price.

Thank you! Must check into those heads.

Wow, harder than I thought to keep a secret in the drum world.

Wow, harder than I thought to keep a secret in the drum world.

Yep! I almost asked if he would sell the 20" bass drum and 12" tom separately from the rest as I have a 14x14 George Way floor tom in gold sparkle. In the end I decided not to as the GW is glass glitter and Camco is standard sparkle. Glad you got the kit and if I see a matching floor tom to your kit I will give you a shout!
