Had a chance to take some pictures of some of the stuff stashed away at Uncle Sam's Pawnshop this past weekend during a visit back to my hometown. Lot's of good stuff and a super friendly staff. They do know what they have but are will to deal a bit on pricing. They don't quote prices on the spot. You have to let them know what you are interested in and they check out sold items on ebay and get back to you. Some cool stuff on hand. Rick is the name of the guy in charge of the drums.

And a couple more. Not sure what the last snare pic is. Lugs looked custom and at first I thought it was MIJ because of the cheap looking strainer but it was really heavy

I would think you could get a great deal on many of those kits. The market is really soft now. My only dealings with pawn shops have been where the owner is a hard nosed seller and thinks everything he has is priceless.

We had a longtime pawn shop like that in my area, He just shut his door this summer. Everything he had was stupid priced.
Thanks for the photo's. Don't know what the snare is either, but have one. It is well built. COS. Think paid $30. Sound is loud and not very pleasing. One of these days it gets a thin wood layer on the inner shell and better rims.

- 1959 Rogers Holiday 5x14 snare drum in blue sparkle. Serial number #13382. Large double sided bread and butter lugs. Part of my kit that was split up before I purchased it. Bring the snare home!
I'm gonna have to make another trip there this week. It's a long 15 minutes from home.
Last year they had a Keystone Acro , possibly that one . It was either '67 or '68 in below average condition with a fair amount of rash on the shell, and pitting on the lugs, in a glass case on the wall. I asked the price and the guy disappeared into the back to "ask". When he came out he stated $400. When he saw the stunned look on my face, he asked what I would offer. I told him I may have been interested at no more than $100. He laughed and said "Have you seen what these go for on online?" I responded "Yes, I paid less than $150 for my 1964, and found a 1968 for my buddy for $100". He looked at me like I was the biggest liar on the planet....
1976 Ludwig Stainless Steel "Bop" (12,14,18)
1998 Ayotte "Ray Era" Wood Hoop Copper Sparkle (10,12,14,16,20)
Those copper Slingerlands look nice, but I'm sure they're out of my range. I'll be in Columbus to visit my folks for Thanksgiving ... I'll have to check it out.
