Trying to date this old Pearl set... Last viewed: 1 minute ago

Loading...

Will post some lug pics when I get home.

The lugs casings are 2-1/4" long by 1" wide. The lug holes are 1-1/2" apart.

As you'll see when I post the pics, I am a little surprised how good the condition of the inner spring is. May be stainless instead of straight steel.

Also, what might you recommend to reglue the edges of the finish? The 3M adhesive on the refinishing page seems to be intended for complete refinishing, not retacking.

Thanks again for all your help.

I have contacted one our resident upholstery guys and he should chime in soon to let you know what is the best solution for the wrap. As for the parts, I will look about in my parts bins and see how many of those I have in decent condition.

The T'rods you can get at your local drum shop, should be able to get them for 2-3 bucks each, which is about what it would end up costing you for originals in only mediocre to good condition, after you pay for shipping, and they are the same exact ones, have not changed in 40+ years, as far as the Pearl Ts go.

The Vinyl on these drums looks sorta like what fender covers thier amps out of. I believe they call it tolex. Its hard to tell from the pics. As far as the regluing it, I would use regular flamable contact adhesive. Check to see if the area that needs regluing will line back up where it needs to be. Clean the back of the vinyl and the shell, brush on the glue on the back of the vinyl and on the shell. let it dry till tacky and stick it. If it has shrunk and wont line up, you can use a heat gun to stretch it, but be very careful. The heat gun could destroy it if you get it to hot. I have several brand new lugs that look exactly like yours. What is the hole spacing and the foot print of the lug. Show a pic of the screws that fasten the lugs on.

Thanks poppy!

Our guitarist is using an older Fender amp. I'll take a look and see how close it is.

The lugs footprint and some pics should be posted above. Ill get some photos of the screws to put up. They are a rounded Phillips head screw.
