Trying to re-invoke a rule I had that has fallen into disuse: if I want to buy a cymbal or drum, I have to sell one.

So.. Two Slingerland snares on the market. One is a Hollywood Ace, lovely White Marine Pearl. Everything works -- the throw off requires a little lift to get it to go up (on both of them) but I'm told that's a characteristic of them.

The serial ## on the Ace is185054.

The blue sparkle has Sep 1961 stamped inside the shell.

The interior of the Ace shell has a a couple of imperfections, but I checked very very closely, and they are not even close to being a structural flaw.

Both of these are in SUPER condition, chrome has some light (very) pitting on some of the lugs, and the hoops have some small scratches. But nothing that would put off anyone but a true collector.

If some of you Slingerland experts can chime in with some info on the Ace or the Blue Sparkle, I would appreciate it.

I bought the Ace for $225 (and added new heads and Pearl wires) and 200 for the Blue Sparkle (same additions). BTW, the sparkle is VERY similar, only no internal damper.

Enough...

I'm thinking the blue is a Student Model 152 with sticksavers instead of single flange hoops and clips. They are offered as an option in the 1960 catalog.

Same exact drum as an Ace, without a tone control.

Both look to be fine examples to me.
