I am considering buying an alleged "vintage" kit, there are no badges or identifications of any kind on the kit... suggestions on what to look for to determine if it's a cheap import kit or if it might be worth the investment are most welcome. The only description provided by the seller is " a 60's era Jazz Kit" I know pictures would help but I have nothing at the moment, sorry.

Probably the fastest way to see if it's a cheap import kit is to look at the shell interiors. If the wood grain runs edge to edge and looks fiberous and splintery, it's probably not worth much. If it's anything else, you might have something.
Otherwise look at the lugs and hardware and try to match 'em up.
Thanks Evan, anyone else???
No badges usually means either rewrap or MIJ drums. Doesn't mean they can't be good sounding, or very cool looking. Lots of great wraps on the imports. Best to check them out yourself if you can. Even cheap drums can sound good, especially if the bearing edges have been smoothed out with fine sandpaper and the right heads are used.
How much investment is mostly what you think it is worth to you if they are not "name brand".
Any marks or stamps on the inside of the shells?
That description is so ambiguous, it could mean anything. But, without badges, I wouldn't gamble on it....I mean, depending on what the seller is asking.
It's really pretty impossible without pictures.

Thanks for the input, I am waiting to hear back from the seller...claims he purchased it from a music store and they told him it was a vintage jazz kit...the seller is young...if that even matters
What do you want to use it for? Might make a decent rehearsal space kit if it is solid and for a really good price. Without photos, can't tell you anything about what it might be.
