I recently found an unusual timbale w/ only 3 lugs & some vintage features. The shell is extremely heavy nickel plated steel w/ the calf head tucked around a wide tension hoop. There are 2 studs on the tension hoop that probably slide onto some stand. I have never seen these lugs before, & think it strange to be only 3. (a week ago I watched someone buy the partner timbale at an open air swapmeet. I got this one a week later from a different vender, & am now looking for the guy who has the larger timbale to complete the set). There is a shadow on the shell that looks like a missing sticker. The head is 13 1/4 " X 7 1/4" shell. Can anyone ID these lugs or this brand for me ? They do not look like any American Brand I know of.

That is a Gombops timbales from the 60's it will be very hard to find a matching drum for it but again you never know. Here is a photo of my set 13 1/2 15 1/2. Very few of this models were made they are real collector item. They are made of solid steel and chrome plated
C, Many thanks for the information. ...And for reviving this old thread. Your post is greatly appreciated.
Do you still have this drum?
Cool old drum - yes, do you still have it?
I have the Timbale, & have been trying to name & date it . I was never able to find the other part of the set . I'd like to know what model had 3 lugs.
that must have been some he made for some one. The set I have was his personal set I never saw another like that. My set has 6 lug on both drums. Very strange Set wonder how well does it tune.
I have not tightened the heads, nor cranked them up. There is a weak spot on the head, & I expect this will open up. There is still a chance I will find the other part of the set. Three lugs on a drum of this size makes me wonder, if it was a Special request, a prototype set, or a less costly model.
