What's wrong with the consolette drilling? It looks right to me.

The lower plate is not parallel to the top one. The two holes closest to the badge are closer together than the two hole closer to the batter side.

The drilling machine will not make the misalignment mistake made on the consolette drilling. The pole mount is centered and inline. I`m gonna say the consolette is not factory. That`s the one with a mistake in drilling.

I reiterate TheElectricCompany's question....what's wrong with the location for a consolette drilling? If you look at the "Buddy Rich " kit in the 1980 catalog, that's exactly where it is.

OK I didn`t look that far, I looked at 70`s, so, if it`s a Buddy kit, whatsamatter with the pole mount ? Is there another kit drilled like that besides the Buddy kit ?

He can shut me up with a top view and a tape.

The holes in my viewing are not aligned. The two clamps on the consolette have a tube through them, if they are not inline the tube will not slip correctly into them. It may still go in.

Look at the alignment of the plates The top one is fine,..the lower one is not inline with it.

I have never seen a Ludwig kit drilled like that, Have you ? Why would Ludwig drill that pole mount so close to the consolette holes and not move it forward a bit to give a bit more wood strength between them ?

I was just saying that the center pole mount could have been added later.

Not an expert opinion, just an observation.

The plates not being parallel does not prove the holes are not parallel. What if the fasteners used to attach the plate are a smaller diameter than the original holes?

To quote C-3PO,..."don`t you get technical wit me"

You are correct. The movement is that small.

To me, I always measure on the same side of the tape. That`s how small it is off.
