I picked up this in "very good" condition 1969 Acrolite the other day. These are the before pictures. It looks like everything was original. I was able to clean and keep the reso head and snare cord, but the snare wires were pretty rusty and twisted when the strainer was disengaged and the batter head was very well used.

According to the sticker on the side of the shell that read "E.W.B.", they took very good care of their snare drum.

So I thank them. ;)

I'm done cleaning it and will post some after pictures.

Based on your collection and For Sale history, there is no doubting this statement. :)

All of the spots on the drum came off with a little elbow grease and about 3 hours of my time. It literally looks brand new now.

Tim - I have one just like it, (that I got from Mike! lol) and I love it. For me the 60's Acro's are the ones to have. I never really liked them much after they changed the finish, the badge and the strainer. The P-83 is a -brass- (COB) unit! Congrats on a GREAT drum!

The one I got last weekend (1965) has some light scratches on it. Are there any good ways to make the scratches less noticeable?

unfortunately no, not that I have found. those are anodized and the finish is pretty much what it is. it could be taken down to aluminum and have the scratches sanded out, but I think it would be better like it is. ive got one with some battle scars myself. they are still good looking drums though.

glad youre still loving yours john. that was/is a nice one for sure.

I have a couple Acro's and just love them. Mine is a 70's era but I like them second to the brushed Aluminum ones. The only ones I don't care for are the funky textured looking ones.

I have this one tuned really nice and use it all the time. It doesn't have a mark on it. I got it from a CL add for $30 in 2012. Case and stand too.
