Vintage 60's Natural Maple 5 Piece Slingerland Kit Last viewed: 2 hours ago

Trying to get a value on a five piece 1960's Slingerland drum kit. My father used it for big band stuff. He was a percussion student at Julliard in the 40's, a professional musician from about 1936 to 2006 - mostly in LA. He played regularly with guitar virtuoso Joe Pass.

The kit looks pretty good. There are a few issues. An indentation in the snare as shown in picture. It looks like a Krupa COB (chrome over solid brass). The badge on snare looks like it is from the 60's. the serial number is 63138. Two lugs are missing for base and one lug attachment on base is missing. Dampener for floor tom is absent also. The snare stand is Ludwig.

Any advice is appreciated. Have to pare down some of the beautiful drums my father left behind band3

I own a 79 Oak kit. That does not appear to be a 79 Oak kit. Late 50s to early 60s bass Ts with an unusual ply of wood on the outside AND a late 60s to 70s bass tom mount. It's an oddball. Very cool! Perhaps he was inspired by the Knotty Pine of 55 and preferred Oak (or ash)? Who knows. It's so cool!!! ... and concert toms to boot! WOW!

Thanks for all the input. I do think it's from the 60's - maybe 70's - due to all the other info. It is a beautiful finish :-O

Refinished, concert toms, mixed era hardware...probably worth a few hundred in parts. If it were my dad's I'd hold onto it.
