If your drum key is barrelled shaped - which would have been for that drum - it should pop right in that key holder on your drum....give it a try.
Vintage Gretchen snare - no badge? Last viewed: 2 hours ago
Great info. Thanks to all for your help. It's currently listed on eBay.
Rich,How do you know yours came from the factory without a badge? When and from who did you buy it?
Well, I can't be 100% sure, but...
I bought it from the wife of the original owner (deceased). He was a sax player and bought the set brand new so he could have a set in the house when folks came over to jam. The wife told me that happened very rarely. The drums had all their original heads and were still in the cases, barely touched. This was over 20 years ago, long before folks would pay any money for a badge. The set was a Gold Satin Flame Name Band set...20, 13, 16 w/ chrome snare. The snare had a grommet but there was no evidence of a badge.
The OP shows a picture with the serial number of his aluminum snare...I wonder if this was made around the same time as the the transition from round to stop sign badges. If someone has a dating guide, please post the estimated date of that drum.
I bought a new RB kit in 1969. I think there were still some RB drums selling into 1970
