does remo make anything comparable to the aquarian vintage heads for older drums with larger diameter? seems like aquarian has the market cornered on that front, which also limits one's choices in putting heads on a vintage kit.

Not that I've heard of. If you want heads for oversized shells, you go with Aquarian American Vintage, or back to the roots: Calf heads.
Unless your problem is metric heads as seen on some non American drums of yesteryear? What brand of drums?
Remo, will custom make them, it is a 6month cycle, but they make oversized heads, I have some of them.
did you get those directly from Remo?
you have to order through a shop, remo stops production twice a year for special orders, on a six month cycle, so your shop will get you on the next list of special orders.
I encourage you to try American or Modern vintage thins on the reso side and find some old calfs for the batters. I've been getting nice calfs off eBay for pretty cheap.
Just to be clear... Aquarian American Vintage and Modern Vintage heads are the same, except American Vintage heads are slightly oversized for older shells. Modern Vintage heads are made to fit modern-sized shells.
