Vintage Leedy Snare - almost clicked 'Buy It Now' Last viewed: 10 hours ago

Loading...

I noticed this on theBay within minutes of the new listing. Initially, I thought the price of $399 was screaming cheap. I even clicked 'buy it now' more than once, then chickened out. My daughter convinced me that I should watch Forrest Gump with her rather than complete the transaction. Would appreciate any thoughts... I know that Leedy Black Elite's fetch big money. What about this old goat?

Thanks

jim

My guess is that it was a forum member - I knew that posting it would bring a buyer - I've gotta act more on instinct. This WAS a good deal staring me in the face for nearly 18 hours. I should have bought it. f()*&^%$#^&*()!?!?!!!

I don't think that's a Black Elite. The metal drum has 2 inverted beads and this drum does not have those. This looks to be a black lacquered wood shell IMO especially considering what the black looks like. I don't think black nickel would do that.

I just noticed the last picture, it's a solid wood shell. You did fine by passing on this one unless you really needed the gold hardware.

Bad wording. I know it's not a Black Elite. It's a wood shell. I don't deal in drum parts, but the individual bits are worth more than the sale price.

I have that same drum but with NOB hardware. I'd be lucky to get $400 for mine and mine is in really, really nice shape. I'm not sure how much you'd profit in by selling those gold parts but IMO not much as Leedy has really dropped off in this economy. Ludwig gold on the other hand......

Thanks for the comments - That line from Forrest Gump keeps popping into my head: "Stupid is as stupid does"

The Leedy Black Elite and White Elite were available in wood as well as metal, also with or without the engraving. The wood drums also carried the gold hardware. This one is a wood shell Black Elite.

You should have pushed "pause"...the hardware was worth that price easily...
