I'm looking to pick up a Ludwig Pioneer snare. I've seen some with white interiors and some with the natural wood (no paint). Are there any real differences or advantages to one or the other?
Long story short, I had ordered one online and had to it send back...rim was bent and in bad shape, which affected the sound. I'm on the watch for another...
no big differences there. some of the pre serial models(early 60's) would have had clear interiors and round knob mufflers or red felt baseball bat mufflers. most of those would have had cob or nob hoops. many like the sound of these better. they then went to the white interiors and cos or nos hoops. later in the 60's back to clear interiors on some and again with the round knob mufflers. not a ton of sound difference in any of those though.
