Vintage pearl president value ? Last viewed: 3 hours ago

Hey all.. Just had a question regarding the value of my vintage Pearl President drums circa 1969-70..When i found and bought these drums i was ecstatic, but after gigging them over the week end, i'm utterly depressed because now i have to get rid of them..They're just too loud for my current musical situation.. I knew that Phenolic shells were going to be loud, but not this loud !..LOL! Before anyone is convinced that i'm trying to make a plug to sell my drums, you can put your convictions to rest. I have never shipped drum gear or sold to anyone out of town and don't plan on doing so now.. Just looking for a fair price to sell my drums to someone who will be happy to use them in my area..

There is some shrinking in the wrap and a few missing pieces of wrap behind lugs in order to refit the lugs nicely, so i had to remove those little chunks of wrap with an exacto knife..The missing chunks do not show when the lugs are on because they are hidden behind the lug..This is the only issue with the drums.. I sanded the bearing edges lightly with 220 grit sand paper and put on 2 coats of clear lacquer to protect the wood.. The bass drum had some moisture stains, but did not damage the shell at all..This is why i sanded and then lacquered the drums, to prevent further deterioration to the shell..

Chrome is in immaculate shape, like it came from the factory !

The drums sound wonderfully warm, fat, punchy, and as i stated before, extremely powerful and loud.. The snare drum is definitely the gem on this kit, with a dual strainer, making it extremely sensitive and dynamic.. This thing is like an anvil ! Classic hard rock sound all the way..I've posted some pics just to give you guys an idea..Any guesstimates or advice will be greatly appreciated..If i'm breaking any forum rules, please let me know, as i don't want to cause any trouble ;)

The drums are too loud? I speculate that the drums are fine, and the drummer is too heavy-handed. I fall into that category if I don't consciously back off when needed.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

leedybdp--I have control and i'm well aware of dynamics ;) My band is an all acoustic band, and we don't use any amps and go direct through the house system..I also play with pro-mark hot rods most of the time !
