Vintage Rogers set up for a lefty? Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Loading...

I've been sniffing around at vintage Roger's kits (particularly interested in a 60's 20/12/16 kit) and have never seen a single rack tom mounted for a lefty.

I'm assuming that the single tom swivomatic tom arms are not amenable to reversing to a degree that would put the tom on the proper side of the bass for a lefty?? So I'm thinking my options are to use a single tom in a Londoner set up (which has the center mount for two toms) or mount the tom on a stand. I would be loathe to re-drill the kick to mount the tom, but would use it that way if it had already occurred by someone else's hand!

Can anyone else present other suggestions/thoughts?

Thanks.

Is not the cymbal and tom plate on the bass the same plate ?

If they are,..maybe you can switch them, then ajust the spurs as needed to correct the lean !!

Course if they are not,....turn the bass around !!

It`s a drum,.....Hit It !!

Other option is virgin bass and drill for center mount. Would not drill unless kit is players condition. Why not use the center Londoner mount with right mount for drum and put a cymbal holder in the left mount? That's what I have done in the past.

Thanks for the responses.

Oddball: I'd thought about flipping the bass around, but was under the impression that the tom mount was offset toward the drummer, but in looking at some pics more closely, this does not appear to be the case with Rogers, so that sounds like a winner.

amosguy: center mount londoner would be perfect and i like the cymbal arm thought for the left tom mount...hadn't considered that. I definitely won't be drilling any drums if they aren't players...I don't need the karma that does with the deed!

thx again

I have a Rogers BDP Tower kit, 20/12/14 FT with matching Luxor snare.

Note the configuration of the collets. You can set up the drum for left or right hand player.

If you can find a swivo bass with dual collets, you should be able to set up the kit lefty or righty.

(I would sell the kit for the right price, if you are interested.)
