Vintage Slingerland bass drum identify? Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Loading...

Hi there, I've come across a Slingerland bass drum in what appears to be a root beer finish. Serial # 167677 double spurs 3 ply. I can't seem to find this finish color & would like to find a ball park year of production & current market value. Extra mounting holes:( & no front hoop. Can someone help me identify this? Thanks & enjoy the pics!

I don't think those are extra holes. Many Slingerland drums had a mount in front of the other for the toms. Also could be the reason why the bass has two spurs each side, as opposed to the typical one. Far as color, I'll have to look through catalogs. Looks to be in really good condition.

I just talked to a guy a few hours ago that has a similar bass drum. 4 spurs, and said there were holes/mounts for concert toms that came with it. That's all I can remember though.

Believe it or else!

New sparkling black pearl. It is the '70s version of black sparke. The Slingerland book says incorrectly that it is some uncatalogged finish. Probably would sell for $100-150 as is.

Yeah, sparkling black pearl configured for an Avante set. The placement of the badge shows that the dual tom holder brackets are "factory".

Hey thanks guys, very informative. Black pearl though? It really is a root beer color. Is that the norm?

Also the tom mount remaining should be reversed ... The T screw should be facing the batter side..

Looks to be in great condition...

Cheers

After 40 years probably. Look under a lug to hopefully see the original color. I think they did do a burgundy too so maybe that's another possibility but overall it looks too dark to be that.
