Vintage Value Last viewed: 4 hours ago

Recently I was discussing vintage instruments with a friend of mine, a guitarist. He owns a number of beautiful guitars. He asked me what quality vintage drums are worth and I gave him a range, based on brands and rarity. Even at the higher end, his response was, “Is that all?”. This got me wondering, are vintage drums significantly less valuable than other vintage instruments? I realize there are many factors including the number of guitarists vs drummers, manufacturing quantities, etc. In today’s economy it’s difficult to tell by scanning eBay but for those who were active in vintage drums during the boom years, what’s your thought?

Thanks!

A 57' Tobacco Sunburst Stratocaster, or a 50's Gold-top Les Paul will always bring in more $ than any top-of-the-line vintage drum kit will. Even if the kit was played by somebody famous... it won't bring as much as either of the guitars I mentioned.

I don't know why. It's just the way the guitar/drum market is, comparatively speaking.

Too many great drums to list here!
