Exactly.....sometimes it does suck......the closest kit I have ever seen posted here in our local craigslist is ironically in the past few days.......A 1976 blue vistalite.....maybe an OCTAPLUS?....two 24" bass drums....18, 16 floors and 14 tom all double sided...then 10,12,13 cracked concert toms....the gem...matching snare 6.5 x 14. His asking price......$3900!!!!!! Originally he posted $5000 and has changed it since. This is what I have seen here in Ontario, Canada in almost a year of searching:(

Hi,
Just my two cents...I have the amber vistalite reissue (in Bonham sizes) and also practiced with a 70's red vista kit (22-13-16) for about 6 months, that was owned by a bandmate. Anyway, differences in shell size and drum heads are sure to have made a difference in what I heard, but the 70's kit was less resonant than my reissue. This was the major difference I noticed. I know its not much to go on, but thought I would comment just in case.
Good luck!

The old Vistas will crack if you breathe on them wrong. Get a new set if you can.
