I find them to be super resonant... the shells are thin and really go BOOM.

The modern bearing edges are an improvement over the originals..... RCI Starlite and Zickos both make good Acrylic drums too... worth checking out.

I think if you are lucky enough to find originals in the same condition as a new set, one would be hard pressed to justify passing on the originals. Wear and tear could change ones perception though. Mine stay off the road.

Only have a 6.5 x 14 snare in Amber ( what else? :rolleyes: ) and use it

exclusively outdoors.

Ludwig coated Heavy top and clear bottom.

Mine was a Bonham kit mistake that went to Japan ( he used 402's )

and has the seam tab.

I guess all Ludwig's have a "sound disturbing center bead" of

some sort.

'Kinda wishing I hadn't flipped my '75 blue kit so fast back in the day...
