That could be the prettiest wrap in the history of wraps. Ocean blue & sandy beach...

Thanks for all of the great responses and help. This forum never ceases to amaze me. I used to think I knew a lot about drums before I came to this forum. I can honestly say that I have learned such great information from this site that it almost seems like I should have to pay a monthly fee. I did buy the drums. The seller indicated that he could not find any dings, rust or corrosion on the drums. He said it appeared they had stayed in someone's basement for their entire life. He indicated some very light pitting is present. The inlays are all intact as well. The original heads are on the drums without any stick marks. We made a final deal of $800. These will be keepers. I have yet to have jasper shells so I am stoked. I have a matching period Slingerland Krupa snare that is in pristine condition that I will use with the kit. I cannot wait.

Excellent! You won't regret your purchase of this fine kit! As to your snare drum, may I suggest a Rogers COB Powertone? While the Krupa snare is great (I've got 3 of them!), the Powertone will have matching lugs and look like it belongs with the kit. Just my :2Cents:

Just got this last photo of the hardware. I have no idea what the springy looking thing is. His phone pics suck. Hardware looks pretty clean though.

Duh!!! Why didn't I think of that. Great suggestion. I'll have some fun looking for a good deal on one of those. I have never owned a Rogers snare. I have had several Big R kits but none had snares. My go to is always the Supra or Acrolite. Probably time I venture out eh?

Congrats Verm. I recall a couple of years ago someone on VDF selling a red sparkle (?) Walberg & Auge kit that was gorgeous. Not sure of the end result of that... more pics when you get them!

Nice score! Beautiful finish and unusual floor tom size is all good. Enjoy!

Ya!... gotta say I like this set myself! The "springy thing" is a drum stick holder that clips on the bass drum hoop. Certainly a TRUE vintage piece of hardware. GOTTA keep this set... there just aren't that many out there! Gonna sound/play great! Mark's suggestion on a Rogers COB Powertone is right on the money!

I sent some pics to the new owner of W and A drums and here is his response.

Thanks for contacting me Greg. Very cool! That’s a VERY nice W&A kit. You scored a beautiful piece of drum history… great price too! (I would have paid that price in a heart beat)

The wrap is an early Ludwig blue oyster pearl.

I have a 1969 set in this color… So does Benny Benson (W&A Artist).

Look through the vent hole and you should see Robert George Bernard’s signature and build date.

Shells are most likely Gretsch Jasper… if they have re-rings then possibly Ludwig and/or Rogers.

The high hat stand is W&A. the other 2 are Premier.

Clean/polish them, set them up and take some pics. I’d love to add it to the vintage venue page.

Do you play in a band / in public?

Thank you,
