The only thing missing on my kit was the 14". Who knows, maybe your tub and the ones I had were part of the same set! Cue Twilight Zone music! Eye Ball

That's a sweet one, Mike. I think 65' was the year they moved the vent hole higher on the shell. It's easy to see why you want to build a kit around it.

I'll keep my eyes open for you...

youre right john-after mid 65, they went up with the badge. yeah, its a good looking drum i think. i am amazed at the sound. i bought a 13 classic wmp tom from the same seller. so, if i could find a bass, at least i'd have something to work with...

Would any of you guys say center lug/club date/tower drums sound better/ More resonance? DO you REALLY hear a difference say from Ludwig club dates to Classics in the same sizes ...same for Rogers Towers vs Holidays, same sizes??

Can't speak for the Holiday/Tower comparison, but I think clubbies sound more open, tone-y than Classics. I have owned club dates and Classics so I've really had a chance to live with and hear them both.

And yes, I'm convinced it has to do with less hardware (mass) and maybe even with the *placement of the lugs. (*Which part of the shell's ability to vibrate is restricted by the lugs.) I do hear a difference though. Classics sound a bit drier and more focused to my ears. Clubbies sound open/wet with lots of tone. Anybody else hear that?
