WFL Royal Maple Outfit Last viewed: 3 hours ago

WFL Royal Maple Outfit. I first noticed it in the biopic "Ray" in the country band audition scene. I can't find video or pics of it online.

Then I noticed what might be the same drum set in the movie "The Aviator" during one of the night club scenes:

This is the only picture of the set I can find. Ray Baudac:

never seen one before.

I have a 7x11 wfl decal badge that looks kinda like what baudac has there. mine is also center zephyr lug with the same tone control, keyholder and small dual inlays in the hoops. one of the best sounding drums ive ever played, calf head with maple finish.

pic is prior to detailing the drum.

Yeah, that's it. Looks like bird's eye maple as well. I would love to have a set of these with red or green sparkle inlay. I heard those zephyr lugs strip out over time.

I have owned lots of zephyr lug drums and never had any strip. Just have to careful threading the tension rod but it's not hard. Those old WFL drums are like tanks!

Seems like a Hollywood prop house must have one.

found a couple more pics of it after I detailed it. its on its hoop mount tom holder on my 12x17 mahogany tenor. I have the bottom hoop. but it is out of round. its one neat drum. the sound will blow you away.

I recall now that the seller had a 28"(?) bass drum as well. it needed a lot of work though. I have/had a pic of it. might have been on my older computer that crashed.

The wood hoops never survived the rock music age. It's a rare event to find a drum with intact wooden hoops. And hoops found are often out of round.
