Tape the pencil down and let the glue dry till tacky, it wont stick to your finger when you touch it. 5-15 minutes i guess. Get the heat gun and warm the wrap up and it will all the sudden be very soft and pliable. Remove the pencil and smooth the wrap down. It will stick like GLUE!!!!!!! I guarantee ya!!!! Then peel the tape off and clean any excess glue off with Xylene.

Yeah, I agree. That would be THE way to do it.
The lift on my seams was very minimal so Super Glue was more convenient for me. I never thought to soften the wrap with heat first. Instead, I clamped a flat piece of wood along the entire seam and let it sit like that overnight. The next day, I removed the clamping rig and everything had worked perfectly. Whatever gets you there! But, yes, Poppy has given you the proper way to do the job.

Actually I just use what my experience has taught me. I have used heat guns all my life in my business. I have also ruined a few things over the years with a heat gun. Vintage drum wrap is pretty brittle, but is much more pliable when warm. It don't take much heat from a real heat gun to soften the wrap. I don't know if a hair dryer would do any good, but it might. Original drum wrap is pretty much priceless, so be extremely careful if you do use a heat gun. It could absolutely ruin your precious wrap. If you get it too hot it would shrivel up and be ruined forever. At least have the drum in a warn environment.

Gentlemen,
Thanks for the advice and for sharing your experiences...I have learned quite a bit from this thread...
Kapperdog...Why is it best to use the solvent based cement vs the water based? For strength I'm assuming?
Cheers
